Fashion with Kelly: First in Class

As we enter the cozier months, it is all about finding pieces that you cannot help but live in, and dressing them up so that they are more socially acceptable. As you know, I'm all about wearing clothing that is secretly lazy, so it is no wonder that the sweatshirt would be a key player for my style philosophy. By using leather, brass, and silk crepe for materials and architectural shaping throughout, the eye is tricked into thinking that the crewneck is fashion-forward. I love how sneaky it is. Shhhhh. If you don't tell, I won't either.

Fashion with Kelly: Little Runaway

The "sporty chic" look has been all over the runway for a while now; this is not by any means your everyday tennis shoe & workout tee look though, but instead more of a tailored, subtle, and (most of all) playful wink to the tomboy. As it finally seeps in to the ready-to-wear market, there are now plenty of options for styling this sort of look. At the moment, I am loving the track short.

"Wait," you say. "I can wear an elastic-waisted pair of shorts, and not only get away with it, but also look super fly?

Yes, yes you can.
I paired these denim track shorts with a slouchy yet luxurious tee to make sure this sleek look doesn't get sloppy. I then decided to go all Pacific NW-style on it by adding a sweet floral cap, chunky sandals, and frilly socks. This 90's-Courtney-Love/Sporty Luxe look is unexpected, but tied in with minimalist jewelry, it becomes a really chic interpretation of the trend.
